Marble, driftwood, steel
This piece of driftwood was absolutely fascinating for me. Looking like a flame, it was fragile and small but perfectly shaped around an empty space! It made me want to use it as a frame for an equally outstanding centrepiece. I found it in this white marble pebble from Ardmair Bay in the Western Highlands of Scotland. It is a perfect symbiosis of dark and light, hard and soft, slim and round, rough and smooth, fragile and robust and warm and cold.
