Driftwood from the Scottish Highlands, marble and gold leaf on a sandstone base

This piece of driftwood immediately reminded me of a wing.  I spent a long time polishing and giving it the beautiful warm colour it now has.  It has a small cavity which needed lighting up with gold leaf to show its beautiful shape against the large smoothness of the wing.  The marble pebble seems to fly into the curve and give the impression of bending it through impact.  This is also emphasized through the ‘weightless’ mounting on the boulder base.
